EDGERTON VISITORS GUIDE

The City of Edgerton wishes to welcome you to our wonderful community. We are fortunate to have many fine services and facilities for our residents. To ensure your move to Edgerton is as smooth as possible, we have provided some basic information in this welcome letter. Undoubtedly, you will have additional questions. Hopefully this information will direct you to the place where you may find the answers.

Our government office is located at 12 Albion St. The Edgerton City Hall can be reached during business hours at 608-884-3341 or http://cityofedgerton.com
Most committee meetings are held at City Hall. Times vary for each meeting, so please call City Hall with specific questions. Public notices for all meetings are posted at the Post Office, the Library and City hall on the preceding Friday.

Parks & Shelters

Shelters are available at Central Park and Race Track Park. Reservations and rental fees are required for the enclosed shelter at Race Track Park. You can call 608-884-4811 for information on reservations.
Family Aquatic Center 608-884-3232
The City pool is located in Central Park and is generally open from June through August. The pool is a zero depth, two pool complex. Daily, season, and family passes are available. Lessons, aerobics, and adult swim times are also offered at the pool. The pool can be rented for private parties when it is not otherwise open to the public.

Garbage and Recycling Collection

Garbage and recycling is collected on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You can call the City Garage for information on when pick-up is scheduled for your neighborhood. Each property should have a recycle tub to place recycled items in. If you do not have one, please contact the City Garage. The types of recyclables collected changes often. To get a copy of the list, call the City Garage or City Hall. For information on large items, please call the City Garage for instructions on who to contact.

Brush pick-up is scheduled the first Tuesday of the month May through November 9weather permitting). Limbs & branches should be no longer larger than 10 ft in length & 6 in. in diameter. It should be neatly piled near the curb.

Leaf pick-up typically begins in the middle of October. Watch the Edgerton Reporter for definite dates. Please remember burning is not allowed in the City of Edgerton.

If you are looking for a place to dispose of leaves, twigs and garden debris, there is a compost pile located at the City Garage.

Snow

Winter parking rules are in effect from November 1 to April 1. During this time, parking is not allowed on public streets after and snowfall until the street has been plowed.

Sidewalks must be cleared of snow within 24 hours of the snowfall. Sidewalks should be cleared to the full width of the walk. Ice should be covered with ice melt or sand.

Contact the utilities department at 608-884-3341. Sewer and water bills are due quarterly.

Property Taxes

Property taxes are distributed near the end of December each year. Taxes are collected at Rock County Court House, located in Janesville.

Dog & Cat Licenses

An annual license is required for all dogs and cats residing in the City of Edgerton. Licenses are valid from January through December and must be acquired prior to March 31 of each year. Please bring a copy of the certificate of rabies vaccination when you purchase your license.

Dogs and cats that are not on the premises of the owner must be on a leash in the City. There is a dog run area located at Race Track Park. Please be considerate of property owners by cleaning up after your pet when walking them.

There are many local businesses in the area that cover a wide range of services. There is a local grocery store, pharmacy/ gift shop, local and national banks or credit unions, convenience stores, service gas stations, car repair, car parts, salvage yards, hotels, printing shop, computer repair, antique and specialty shops, hair salons, tanning salons, fitness center, garden center, hardware store, liquor stores, real estate offices, accountants, tattoo parlor, insurance agents/brokers and bowling alley.

There are numerous eating establishments in the surrounding area for your dining pleasure. Everything from family restaurants, dinner clubs, fast food restaurants and bar & grills are ready to fill your every need.

Some of our Chamber of Commerce members have included fliers promoting their businesses. Our local paper, The Edgerton Reporter, is published every Wednesday. There are many activities going on throughout the year, listed in the Events calendar. A City map is also included for your convenience.
